Stormwater Load Reduction Plans (SLRPs)

Stormwater runoff transporting fine sediment particles from urban areas is considered to be the major contributor (72%) to the decline in Lake Tahoe water clarity.  The Lake Tahoe Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) has been established to set forth a plan to restore the clarity through reductions in loads of fine sediment particles, nitrogen and phosphorus in urban stormwater runoff.  NTCD has compiled and mapped all stormwater asset infrastructure for the Nevada/Lake Tahoe Basin.  This information will be used by NTCD to develop stormwater load reduction plans for the Nevada jurisdictions of Washoe County, Douglas County and the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) to meet TMDL load reductions to help reverse the clarity decline of Lake Tahoe.
