Awesome 2024 Tahoe Stewardship Day with the @keeptahoeblue team today at Burke Creek! Over 100 volunteers came out to plant 500 aspen, 200 wetland plugs, 100 linear feet of willow fascines, and other important actions to help us put the finishing touches on our Burke Creek Rabe Meadow restoration! Nevada Tahoe Conservation District
NTCD picked up a @trpa_tahoe Best in Basin Award today for their Saxon Creek Restoration Project in collaboration with the USFS, Balance Hydrologics, and Meyers Earthwork, Inc. This project removed fish passage barriers, expanded the riparian width, and improved habitat complexity at a 900’ length of stream channel. Last fall, the Nevada Tahoe Conservation District, Last fall, the Nevada Tahoe Conservation District, in partnership with the USDA Forest Service LTBMU and with support from the Washoe Tribe, completed the restoration of early 5 acres of stream, pond, and wetlands in the Burke Creek Watershed. Measuring pond depth and water levels in Jennings Measuring pond depth and water levels in Jennings Pond in the Burke Creek watershed. Beavers have taken residence over the past 5 years and have really changed things. Nearby development and recreation uses complicate the use of beaver related restoration.
